In fine tailoring, everything begins with the cloth.

Long before the first pattern is drafted or a needle touches fabric, the character of a garment is already defined by the textile from which it will be made. For this reason, the choice of cloth has always been central to Cavaliere’s approach to tailoring.

Among the world’s most respected textile producers stands the Italian mill Loro Piana, known for sourcing exceptional fibres and transforming them into refined fabrics used by garment makers around the world.

When Cavaliere’s founder Janne began exploring new fabrics for the collection, fabrics from Loro Piana were naturally among those he hoped to work with.

A Relentless Pursuit of Craft

At the time, Cavaliere had already spent years refining its craft in Borås, Sweden — a city long associated with textile manufacturing and garment production. Jackets and suits had been produced there for generations, and Cavaliere was steadily building its reputation for carefully constructed tailoring.

Janne approached the Italian mill with the intention of purchasing fabric for future garments.

The response was simple: not at this time. Seasons passed. Collections came and went.

Each season Janne returned with the same request — to purchase fabric produced by Loro Piana for Cavaliere garments.

Fourteen Seasons Later

Each season the answer remained unchanged.

Fourteen seasons later — nearly seven years after the first request — Cavaliere was finally able to place its first order.

That year Cavaliere produced its first jacket crafted from fabric supplied by Loro Piana.

It was a moment that reflected something fundamental about tailoring: patience, persistence, and the long timelines often required to build a collection with the materials one truly believes in.
